JUN AUTO THAILAND BNR32 GT-R has achieved a new record.

2002/05/09

The demonstration car, BNR32 GT-R, produced by JUN AUTO MECHANIC THAILAND attained the new time record for 1/4 mile DRAG-RACE in Thailand on Saturday 4 May 2002.

We have achieved 9 second 351 (goal speed 257.18 km/h) which exceeded far more than that of its fastest time record, 9 second 61. On top of that, we have renewed the Thailand fastest time record of 9 second 45 at this occasion. As JUN AUTO BNR32 has retained a great record, but last year it was renewed by another DRAG RACE machine. Our main target at this time was acquiring a new record in this race. We tried once in April, but it did not go well because of the trouble by the fuel control system. Therefore, at this time we prepared ourselves so well and challenged this by bringing in some fuel control spare parts.

The state of a road surface was not so good in Thailand as the race was usually carried out by closing a part of the public street in the industrial area. Since there was no a proper drag racing field unlike in Japan and the United States, the condition of road surface was not maintained for the racing use. In some part, it was worse than or as the same level as the public road in Japan. Moreover in Thailand, their street was usually made of concrete because the temperature of road surface becomes so high. It was a dangerous field to us, but oh well...that was the DRAG RACE in Thailand. (So the machine did not equip grip reinforcement by chemicals, such as VHT.)

RESULT
60feet 1.709
330feet 4.101
1/8mile 6.146(Passage speed 195.94km/h)
1/4mile 9.351(Passage speed 257.18km/h)

In the 60-feet race the time was about 0.3 to 0.4 seconds late compared with the result held in Sendai Highland DRAG Course of Japan. We believed this was resulted by the less-grip road surface.
